The Polyphonic Wizard is a software program for your PC that allows you to add new polyphonic ringtones, pictures and java midlets to your  phone without the need for cables.

Different phones need different formats, some use a reduced version of a midi file, whilst others use formats like smaf.

With the Polyphonic Wizard you do not need to worry about the file format, the wizard automatically converts the midi files for you.

The Polyphonic Wizard allows you to perform basic, or advanced midi editing, the choice is yours.

Basic editing is just what is says - basic. You can trim the ringtone, setting a start and an end point, so you can get straight into the music when your phone rings, skipping the long intros.

You can also use the basic editor to keep the file as small as possible,  and therefore fit more ringers on your phone.

The advanced polyphonic ringtone editor allows you to do the same trim functions as the basic ringtone editor, but also allows you to remove specific channels, jump to the start point of specific channels, with a much more comprehensive interface, whilst still remaining easy to use.

Absolutely no musical knowledge is required to use the Polyphonic Wizard.

Download ringtones, pictures and clipart  to your phone without 'paying per ringtone'.

You can download as many pictures or ringers as you like to your phone. You can trim them on your phone first, and if you don't like what you have downloaded, you can simply delete the download, and try another.

The Polyphonic Wizard gives you the freedom to download the ringers and pictures you want, without the burden of paying per ringtone.

Download Java midlets or games to most makes and model of phone.

The Wap server built into the Polyphonic Wizard allows you to download Java midlets to your phone without any additional software.

Most games and mobile applications are written in Java, and most recent polyphonic phones include a Java engine, so all that is missing is a way to get the Java applications onto the phone without using a pay per download service.

The Polyphonic Wizard does this for you, all you need is the Java application, the Polyphonic Wizard on your PC and your phone.

No cables or sms services are required to transfer ringtones or pictures to your phone. 

The Polyphonic Wizard uses the Wap internet service in your phone to download ringtones so you don't need cables.

If you have cables, or infra red, or Bluetooth,  then you can use them,  but you don't need them!

Wap is the preferred way of downloading tones, so 99% of phones and most networks support it.  

If you use a pay per ringtone service for polyphonic tones, they will send a text message to your phone,  instructing your phone to start the Wap browser and download the ringtone.  

The Wizard simply replicates this, but on a smaller scale and without needing the text message. Effectively your PC becomes a mini Wap server,  everything you need to transfer the ringtone to your phone after the conversion part of the process has been completed.

Version 2.7 of the Wizard now also works with Sprint and Bell Mobility networks, taking network support to over 98% worldwide. In fact the only major network we cannot work with worldwide is Nextel in the USA!

How does the Polyphonic Wizard Work?

The Polyphonic Wizard has been designed to be very easy to use!

The Wizard is a software program for your PC that allows you to add a ringtone, picture (wallpaper) or Java Midlets (game) to your phone without any additional cables or sms services.

All you need is your PC, your phone and the Polyphonic Wizard. You can then add new ringtones to your phone without 'paying per ringtone'.

Step by Step Example

The following step by step example shows how you would add a ringtone to a Nokia phone using the Polyphonic Wizard.

1. If you have not done so already, you need to download Polyphonic Wizard
2. Start the Polyphonic Wizard by clicking on the icon on your desktop.
3. Select 'Add a Ringtone' from the first screen. The wizard will then ask you to choose a midi file, select the demonstration 'techno.mid' file.
4. You will then base asked if you want to edit the midi file. You can trim the file using the easy to use trim tool, or you can select the advanced midi editor to edit the file. You can of course skip this step completely, and leave the midi file alone!
5. You will then be asked what sort of phone you have. In this case we will select Nokia.
   There may be two more options at this stage, you can choose to remove percussion tracks, and can enhance the volume of the ringtone. 
6. The Wizard will then do its stuff, trim and convert the midi file as needed for your phone,  and make it available to your phone using your internet connection.  You can then follow the instructions in the software to download the ringtone to your phone using your phones internet, or wap browser.

Do I need to use WAP?

No, but it is usually the best way to get a ringtone to your phone, especially if you do not have cables.

The Polyphonic Wizard will let you use cables, infra red or bluetooth to transfer ringtones as you can simply save the convertered midi file to your PC and send it to your phone by any method you have available.

We recommend WAP as it is available on 98% of phones worldwide, and is used by the network providers themselves to deliver ringtones to your handset when you use their 'pay per ringtone' services.

Quality Ringtones

Whatever the capability of your phone, with the Polyphonic Wizard you do not need to have any musical or technical knowledge, the software takes care of all the details for you.

The software will convert the midi file you select to the highest quality ringtone possible for your phone, and of course if you don't like the result you can always try again!

Supported Phones

Virtually all makes and models of polyphonic handset are compatible with the Polyphonic Wizard. We are adding support for new phones to the software all the time.

What about modern songs and copyright?

Whilst most modern pop songs are available in midi format, you should be aware that they may be subject to copyright restrictions. 

The Polyphonic Wizard is a tool which will allow you to add these files to your phone,  but doing so may breach the copyright restrictions imposed by their author, if in doubt check first. It is against the terms and conditions of use of the software to download material that may be subject to copyright or other legal restrictions.

What's the difference between a Ringtone and a Melody? 

Nothing at all, its just a different name for the same thing!   

Do you have trouble hearing your phone ring?

Don't worry, many people do, especially with polyphonic handsets!

The Polyphonic Wizard has a specific feature built in to make sure an midi files you use are volume enhanced for mobile cell phones.

If you try to add a midi file that has not been volume enhanced, the Wizard will ask you if you want to enhance the midi, or leave it as it. The choice is yours.

What about pictures and games - can I add those ?

It depends on your phone.  The Polyphonic Wizard will allow you to add pictures to most makes and models, and games to over 50% of current polyphonic handsets.

Advanced Midi Editor

Advanced midi editor allows you to work on your midi files. You can set very specific start and end trim points, listen to individual channels and remove channels.

Use of the advanced midi editor is optional, if you simply want to add a midi file without editing it you can skip the midi editing stage, but the option is there if you want it.

Direct WAP Server

Direct wap server allows you to turn your PC into a mini wap server.

The existing step by step wizard is still there, but this new  function (found in the file menu) allows you to set up your PC as a mini wap server, placing files you want to share in a wap folder, and making these available to your phone through wap. This is useful if you have existing midi or mmf files that have already been converted for use on your phone, and you simply want a method of downloading them.

How can I save money by using the Polyphonic Wizard?

The Wizard is a software program that runs on your PC and allows you to transfer as many ringtones, pictures and Java Midlets as you like, saving you from the 'pay per ringtone' option typically advertised.

How much the the Polyphonic Wizard cost?

The Polyphonic Wizard costs $ 19.95 (UK £ 12.95 / EURO € 16.95).
This is a one off charge for the software, not a monthly subscription. Once you have registered, all software updates are free.

What about copyright restrictions?

It is against the terms and conditions of use of the Polyphonic Wizard to transfer files that may be subject to copyright to your phone.  You should always check the copyright ownership of files you download to ensure you comply with the law,  and the terms and conditions of use.  

What equipment do I need?

All you need is your PC, an internet connection and your phone. You phone needs to be WAP enabled (almost all are) and your PC needs a direct or modem internet connection.

You do not need a cable or text message service to transfer ring tones.

Do I need to be computer literate to use the Polyphonic Wizard?

No, the Wizard has been designed to be useable by anyone, whatever their level of experience.

If you have a telephone, cable modem or direct connection to the internet you should be able to get a sample ringtone onto your phone within 5 minutes of installation.  
If you use a proxy server or router you may need to set up port forwarding on the router to allow your phone to talk to your PC, but this is a simple procedure and the trial version will take you through all the required steps.
